The Road Home

Renaissance... Essence... The essence of the Renaissance. Or perhaps simply essence. A return to what truly matters. RenÉssence.
Most of us had already been singing together for several years. One day, we found ourselves in Zoe's car.
"What if we formed a small ensemble and sang Renaissance repertoire...?"
And that is how renÉssence came into being—through a shared search for our own essence.
Time passed, and life took us in different directions. We drifted apart. Then, one day, we decided to rekindle the spark.
RenÉssence. To rediscover the warmth of the group, the feeling of belonging, the place we call home.
Now we sometimes find ourselves in tears during rehearsals. Little by little—and sometimes more courageously—we allow love to embrace us. We still struggle. There are moments of tension, anxiety, and anger. But we try to be honest about them. Sometimes we succeed. And when we do, something extraordinary happens.
We are in the same place, at the same moment.
We are at home.
In many ways, the theme of tonight's performance mirrors our own journey: from the nurturing embrace of Corfu, through separation as life led us to Athens and elsewhere, to our stumbling yet wholehearted attempt—and deep need—to find one another again.
This is our road home.
